Monte Generoso reopens for the new season!
On Saturday, 6th of June 2020 the cogwheel train for the Monte Generoso starts again its journey up the mountain for the new season.
The cog railway for Monte Generoso, for over 125 years in Capolago, is just a few steps away from Albergo Ristorante Svizzero!
Along 9 km of breathtaking scenery, with an enviable view of Lake Lugano, you'll reach the summit at an altitude of 1704 m!
Here, on the rocky edge of the mountain, is the "Fiore di Pietra", the new building designed by the famous architect Mario Botta, inspired by the peonies growing on the mountain. Inside, two restaurants will satisfy every palate.

To inaugurate the new season in the best way, the unmissable "Horns of the Alps" will play their music on the summit at 10.30 and 14.00. A unique experience to immerse yourself completely in the tradition, myths and legends of our mountains!.
Next Events
- The journey on the 1890 steam train to immerse yourself in the Belle Epoque atmosphere! Starting from June 28th, every two Sundays of the month! Booking required.
- "Yoga Flow" on the Generoso's summit: on the 21st of June or on the 5th and 19th of July find your inner calm with a special yoga lesson at 1704 m high!
- On Sunday, 21st of June and 19th of July 2020 do not miss the Panoramic Apero-Jazz Matinée dedicated to all music's lovers!
